LAB NOTE 03 / Skin biology
Pigmentation care starts with protection.
A thoughtful routine begins with the triggers you can address.
Where should an uneven-tone routine begin?
Similar marks, different causes.
Post-inflammatory marks, melasma and other pigment changes can look alike. A product quiz cannot establish their diagnosis. New, changing or irregular lesions should be assessed by a dermatologist.
Daily protection matters.
The American Academy of Dermatology advises sun protection for melasma, including broad-spectrum sunscreen, shade and protective clothing. Tinted sunscreen containing iron oxide can help protect against visible light. A botanical oil is not sunscreen.
Keep the rest gentle.
Stinging and irritation can worsen uneven pigmentation. Introduce products cautiously and choose texture by your skin’s comfort. Seek professional care when pigmentation persists or its cause is uncertain.
